We at Outer Haven Media are very proud to be part of Ravenna, Ohio but we have not forgotten where we came from. Two of our staff are Alumni of Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio.
As of January, six teenagers from Perry High School have taken their lives since the beginning of the school year. The reasons have not yet been determined and are still being fully investigated but it brings up a very important issue that needs to be address today.
In this new digital age it is very easy for people, teenagers especially to feel more depressed and alone then ever before, there is now a new text helpline available for people that they don’t even have to openly talk to a person which scares many, all they have to do is text 741741 anywhere in the US and a Crisis Worker will text back immediately. This help line is run by The Crisis Text Line. In a age where many don’t want to talk on a phone this is a great solution for anyone to be able to still get much needed help.
No one should ever feel so alone or in so much darkness that taking their life is the only option left to them. But together we can shine out a light to them. Don’t be afraid to talk to people or share a smile, you never know the impact such a small gesture might have on their life. We were all teenagers once and we know how hard life can be at times. Sometimes all people need is to know someone is there and listening.
Thank you and please share this for anyone whom you think might benefit.
